PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE (FROM SCRATCH!)

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

What you will need for 2 drinks:

  • 2 Cups of hot Milk

  • 2 shots of Espressos  (+ extra shots depending on how strong you like your latte)

  • Whipped Cream (optional )

Pumpkin Spice Syrup

  • 80ml Water

  • 2 Heaped tbsp of Pumpkin purée 

  • 2 tbsp of Vanilla essence or 1 Vanilla Pod

  • 2 tbsp of Brown Sugar

  • 1 tsp of Cinnamon 

  • 1 tsp of freshly grated Ginger

  • 1/2 tsp of ground Allspice

  • 1/4 tsp of ground Cloves

  • 1/4 tsp of ground Nutmeg

Method

  1. Place all the Pumpkin Spice Syrup ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat, mix it well and let it reduce for about 5 mins. Divide it into 2 glasses/cups.

  2. Then top each glass/cup with:

    1 or 2 shot(s) of Espresso coffee and 1 cup of hot Milk. Mix it well, or use a hand milk frother.

  3. Finally, add Whipped Cream or Milk froth (for fewer calories :)

  4. Sprinkle with some of the spices and get all warm and fuzzy inside!

Tips:

I make my own pumpkin purée by roasting the pumpkin in the oven for 1 hr, then scraping it out and putting it through a sieve. 

An easy way of making the milk froth is by mixing the pumpkin syrup and hot milk in a blender.
