AN AFTERNOON AT THE APPLE ORCHARD

We were late to the Apple picking “party”, as apparently they have been picked from the trees at record speed this year.

It seems that quarantined minds think alike - seeking refuge in Nature and trying to make the most of outdoor activities helps us muddle through this long “stay home” season.

As the weekends tend to attract a crowd, we decided to go during the week and it was pure bliss! The place was fairly quiet, at times we had it all to ourselves.

This particular orchard (Hillcrest Apple Orchard in Elijjay) had more to do and see than others I’ve previously visited. We spent an entire afternoon there with the kids, petting the farm animals, eating yummy apple treats, swinging from a zip line, jumping on a giant bouncy pillow, walking around the orchard, and picking the odd apples that were missed by the crowds.

Although we missed the apple picking on the tree action, we have not come home empty-handed. There was plenty of sweet and juicy apples to fill up our bags at the market. I’m looking forward to baking a delish apple pie on the weekend.
